Building a Powered Parasail Motorcycle to Fly Around On

At the Online Think Tank We are often asked some of the coolest technological questions, such as this recent question on How to Build a Powered Parasail Motorcycle to Fly Around On? Not an easy task, but completely feasible. On of the methods that has already been employed by a few flying contraption daredevil designers is to put an air-boat propeller on the back of a motorcycle and then strap on a parasail and fly away, fly away, fly away.

Does it work? Well many have tried it and many have succeeded and well we will not talk about those who crashed and burned; God rest their souls. They wanted to make a dent in the world and that is exactly what they did. Two of them, one when they hit the ground and the other when they buried them, so be careful out there okay?

Of course the man asking the question about the parasail flying motorcycle had no idea that it had already been done. It kind of makes sense someone would do this, after all, flying is something humans love to do. I think I saw some really cool flying contraptions based on para-sailing at Oshkosh when I was there in 2005.

Still the idea of something that was easy up and easy fold is of value, as in a motorcycle with saddle bags containing the sail, rigging and fold up propulsion device.

In my theory on the CBR 600 Honda, it has 600cc and that is a good amount of power. NASA built a UAV with fold out wings you could drop from a plane and the wings inflated via a canister. I like this concept;

It makes perfect sense and then all you need to do is attach the propeller system which steers with the handle bars (aka directional thrust albeit crude). And as they say on TV, don't try this at home!
